Cuccidati,s another famous name is buccellati, Italian fig cookies or Sicilian fig cookies, are fig-stuffed cookies traditionally served at Christmas time.

Ingredients of Cuccidati
For dough
- 8 cupsall purpose flour
- 2 cups margarine
- 1 tbspbaking powder
- ½ tspsalt
- 3 cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 2 small oranges zest
- ½ cup milk
For the filling
- 1.5 cups raisins
- 6 cupsdried figs
- ¾ cupdark chocolate chips
- 1 cupjam
- 3 cups nuts
- 2 tbsprum optional
- 1 smallorange zest only
- ½ tsp cinnamon powder
- 1 shot glass marsala wine or vanilla essence
- hot water
Decorate
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbspmilk
- colored sprinkles
- lemon extract
How to make Cuccidati

Add flour, shortening, baking powder, and salt in mixer and mix them well.

Add sugar, orange zest, and eggs and knead to form a soft dough.

Cut the dough into equal pieces and roll into log shapes.

Store in plastic bag in refrigerator overnight.
Make the Filling

Soak raisins in hot water for about 10 minutes. After drain pul all ingredients in mixer.

Make smooth paste.
Cookies
- Dust surface with flour and roll out each log into a long rectangle.
- For each strip of dough, add a strip of filling to the center and then fold the edge of the dough over to seal the filling inside.
- Slice each log into about same size pieces and place on lined cookie sheet.
- Bake for 20 minutes.
Decoration

Add powdered sugar and one tablespoon of milkand make thick paste.

Drizzle the frosting over the cooled cookies and then while frosting is still wet, decorate with sprinkles.
