This farali vada made during the Navratri fasting, or other upvaas or vrat days like Ekadasi, Mahashivratri, or Janmashtami. Farali batata vada is deep-fried snacks prepared with mildly spiced mashed potato baji which is then coated with singhara flour batter and then deep-fried till golden crisp.

Ingredients of Farali Batata Vada
For potato mixture:
- Oil for deep frying
- ½ teaspoon Cumin seeds
- Green chilies chopped finely
- 1 ½ cups Potatoes boiled, peeled, mashed
- Rock salt
- ½ teaspoon Black pepper powder
- 1 ½ teaspoon Lemon juice
- ½ teaspoon Sugar
For outer layer:
- ⅓ cup Singhare ka atta
- Rock salt
- Black pepper powder to taste
- Water
How to Make Farali Batata Vada

Boil potatoes in cooker.

Let it cool down, Then peel it and mash using a potato masher.

Heat the oil, add cumin seeds.

Then add chopped green chili.

Add mashed potatoes, salt, black pepper powder, and sugar.

Mix well, add lemon juice, mix.

Take singhare ka atta, salt, pepper in a bowl.

Now add little water at a time and make a smooth batter.

Divide the potato mixture into equal ball shape.

Heat the oil in a pan for deep frying on medium-high heat.

Once the oil is hot, deep one potato ball in the batter and coat with batter from all the sides.

Deep fry it till it is golden brown from all the sides.

Once browned and fried from all the sides, remove it to a paper towel lined plate using a slotted spatula.
