Sugarcane juice also known as ganne ka ras is a commonly consumed beverage in Punjab. Whenever vender selling sugarcane juice enters the street, kids can be seen around him asking for ras. It’s so refreshing, you can’t say no to it.Keeping up with Punjabi tradition, here is the recipe of ‘Ganne Ke Ras Ki Kheer’.
- Sugarcane juice 2 cups
- Rice ½ cup
- Water 1 cup
- Cardamom powder ½ teaspoon
- Raisin as desired
- Cashew as desired
Method to make Ganne Ke Ras Ki Kheer’
- Wash and soak rice for 30 minutes.
- Cook rice in 1 cup of water till done. You can use leftover rice also. If using leftover rice, straightway add sugarcane juice.
- Once the rice get cooked, add sugar cane juice and let it simmer till most of the juice gets evaporated and you get a thick syrupy consistency.
- Add raisins and cashew.
- Serve chilled.
