Ingredients of Masala Poli

  • 1.5 cups Plain flour
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp salt for dough
  • Water to knead the dough
  • 2 tsp oil for the dough
  • 1 Potato boiled and mashed
  • ¼ cup green peas
  • 3 tsp Oil
  • ½ tsp Mustard seeds
  • Few curry leaves
  • 2 onions finely chopped
  • ½ tbsp cashew nut bits
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1.5 tsp sambar powder
  • 1 tsp Garam masala
  • ½ cup Coriander leaves chopped
  • Ghee
  • 2 tbsp Idli Milagai Podi

How to Make Masala Poli

  • Add 1.5 cups plain flour, turmeric powder, and salt in a bowl, knead soft dough with water.
  • Add 2 tsp of oil, Cover  for 2 hours.
  • In a pan add 2 tsp oil and add mustard seeds, curry leaves.
  • Add finely chopped onions and a little salt, Saute till they become translucent.
  • Add the mashed potato and blanched green peas.
  • Add turmeric powder, sambar powder, garam masala, few cashew bits, and salt.
  • Mix well and cook well.
  • Add coriander leaves, Mix well and cool completely.
  • Make small balls out of the potato stuffing.
  • Open the dough and Grease a parchment paper.
  • Place a dough ball in the center, and extend the dough.
  • Place the potato ball in the middle of it and cover it well.
  • Close this with another greased paper, roll with a rolling pin.
  • Place the rolled poli on a hot tawa.
  • Cook on both sides, Smear ghee.
  • Sprinkle idli podi generously and sprinkle coriander leaves.
  • Flip and smear ghee if needed.
  • Take out from the pan. Enjoy hot.
