Meethe Chawal is particularly important and essential dish on most festive occasions. The dish is typically served as a dessert after the meal or perhaps during the meal during the special occasions and celebrations. The dish has a bright yellow in colour with its appearance due to the use of saffron.

INGREDIENTS of  Meethe Chawal

  • ¼ cup ghee
  • 8 cashew
  • 5 almond 
  • 2 tsp raisins 
  • 2 tsp dry coconut 
  • 2 pods cardamom 
  • 4 cloves 
  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ tsp saffron 
  • ¼ tsp orange food colour
  • ½ cup basmati rice
  • ½ cup sugar

How To Make  Meethe Chawal

  • Heat ghee and roast cashew, almond, raisins and dry coconut.
  • Roast to golden brown on low flame.
  • Add cardamom and cloves in ghee.
  • Add water, saffron and orange food colour.
  • Add 1 cup soaked basmati rice and mix well.
  • Cook on medium flame for 10 minutes.
  • add sugar, ghee and roasted dry fruits.
  • Cover and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Cook until the rice is cooked completely.
  • Serve meethe chawal with few chopped nuts.
