The dish is typically served as a dessert after the meal or perhaps during the meal during the special occasions and celebrations. The dish has a bright yellow in colour with its appearance due to the use of saffron.
INGREDIENTS of Meethe Chawal
- ¼ cup ghee
- 8 cashew
- 5 almond
- 2 tsp raisins
- 2 tsp dry coconut
- 2 pods cardamom
- 4 cloves
- 1 cup water
- ¼ tsp saffron
- ¼ tsp orange food colour
- ½ cup basmati rice
- ½ cup sugar
How To Make Meethe Chawal

Heat ghee and roast cashew, almond, raisins and dry coconut.

Roast to golden brown on low flame.

Add cardamom and cloves in ghee.

Add water, saffron and orange food colour.

Add 1 cup soaked basmati rice and mix well.

Cook on medium flame for 10 minutes.

add sugar, ghee and roasted dry fruits.

Cover and simmer for 5 minutes.

Cook until the rice is cooked completely.

Serve meethe chawal with few chopped nuts.
