Simple parippu curry which has a keralan touch to it. It goes well with hot rice with a drizzle of pure desi ghee. Basically its moong dal made with coconut and other spices.

INGREDIENTS of Parippu Curry 

  • Moong dal : 1 cup
  • Grated Coconut : 1/2 cup
  • Cumin : 1/2 tsp
  • Small Red Onions : 3 nos
  • Green Chillies : 2-3
  • Turmeric Powder : 1/4 tsp
  • Coconut oil : 2 tsp
  • Mustard Seeds : 1/4 tsp
  • Dried Red Chilli : 2
  • Curry Leaves : few
  • Water
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Parippu Curry 

  • Cook moong dal-parippu in cooker by adding water and salt into it.
  • Grind coconut, green chilles and cumins seeds with turmeric powder.
  • Add grounded coconut paste, salt to the mashed dal and let it boil and remove from heat.
  • Heat oil in another pan and splutter mustard seeds, add small onion, curry leaves and red chilli.
  • Saute till the onion becomes golden brown and translucent.
  • Put dal-parippu.
  • Serve with rice and pappad, drizzle some ghee on it.
