Pita, is a family of yeast-leavened round flatbreads baked from wheat flour, common in the Mediterranean, Middle East, and neighboring areas. Pita Bread is freezer friendly. It’s just as delicious plain as it is with a filling or a dip.

Ingredients of Pita Bread
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 2 teaspoons, active dry yeast
- 2 teaspoon sugar
- 3 3/4 cups bread flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons sea salt
- 3 tablespoons oil, plus more for the bowl
- 3/4 cup whole-milk Greek yogurt
How to make Pita Bread

Combine the water, yeast, and 1 teaspoon of sugar in a large bowl.

Combine the flour, salt, and remaining tablespoon sugar.

Add the yeast mixture, oil, and yogurt, and mix to combine. Knead the dough firmly.

Cover the dough with a towel, and let rise until it’s doubled in size, about 2 hours.

Set the ovan with parchment paper.

Turn the dough out onto a clean work surface and divide it into equal balls.

Cover them for 20 half an hour.

Roll the balls out into circles.

Place them onto the baking sheets an inch apart, then bake, one sheet at a time.

Bake them for about 8 minutes, rotating the pan after the 5 minute mark if one side of the sheet is puffing up more than the other.

Transfer the pitas to a wire rack to cool.
