  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast halves, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon ground mustard
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground thyme
  • ⅛ teaspoon dried basil
  • ⅛ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ⅛ teaspoon dried sage
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch

Steps To Make Popcorn Chicken Air Fryer

  1. Place the chicken pieces in a medium bowl.
  2. Combine salt, paprika, black pepper, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, basil, oregano and sage in a small bowl. Reserve 1 teaspoon of the seasoning mixture and sprinkle the remaining seasoning on the chicken. Mix to cover evenly.
  3. Combine cornstarch and 1 teaspoon of reserved seasoning in a plastic bag with zipper;
  4. Shake to combine.
  5. Place the chicken pieces in the bag, seal the bag and shake to cover evenly.
  6. Transfer the chicken to a fine mesh strainer and shake to remove excess cornstarch.
  7. Let stand for 5 to 10 minutes until the cornstarch begins to absorb into the chicken.
  8. Preheat the air fryer to 200 degrees C.
  9. Spray the fryer basket with oil and place the chicken pieces inside, making sure they do not overlap.
  10. You may have to make two batches, depending on the size of your fryer.
  11. Spray the chicken with oil spray.
  12. Cook for 4 minutes. Shake the fryer basket and spray the chicken again with oil so there are no dry or dusty areas.
  13. Cook until the chicken is no longer pink inside, about 4 to 5 more minutes. Serve immediately.
