Pottukadalai urundai is a healthy snack with fried gram dal and jaggery as main ingredients.
Ingredients for Pottukadalai Urundai
- Fried chana dal – ½ cup
- Jaggery – ⅓ cup
- Water – ⅓ cup
- Cardamom powder
- Ghee – ¼ cup
- Cashew pieces
How to Make Pottukadalai Urundai
- Take grated jaggery. Add water and a pinch of cardamom powder.
- Boil so that jaggery dissolves completely.
- Add filtered jaggery syrup to a pan and let it boil well. Take a plate, grease it with ghee.
- If one string comes, simmer and add fried chana dal to the syrup. Mix well so that all syrup are coated well.
- Transfer the contents to the greased plate. Remove the grams stuck to the ladle with a spoon. Spread and try to break any long bunches.
- Once cooled, transfer to mixer in batches and grind it to smooth powder.
- In a hot pan, add ghee and once melted, add broken cashew pieces. Switched off.
- Put ghee and fried cashews, mix well.
- Make ladoo.
- Once cooled, store in air-tight container.
