World Cocktail Day: Beat the Heat with These 5 Cocktails That Are Refreshing

1. Vieux Carre

Vieux Carre
Born in New Orleans, this firm cocktail is a quick fix that can brighten up any night.

  • 25 ml rye whiskey
  • 25 ml of cognac
  • 25 ml sweet vermouth
  • 20 ml of Benedictine or herbal liqueur
  • 1 teaspoon of Cocktail Bitters
  • 1 teaspoon of aromatic bitter
  • Cherry for garnish
  • 1 cup of crushed ice


  • Take a jug and mix the rye whiskey, brandy, sweet vermouth.
  • Add crushed ice, liqueur and bitter and mix.
  • Pour it into an old-fashioned highball glass and top with ice.

2. Butter beer

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter introduced us to different variations of Butter Beer. The drink is one of the most popular creations and here is our fantastic version that will remind you of your Harry Potter Days.

  • 1 cup of cream soda
  • 1 cup of sparkling water
  • 1 cup of beer
  • 1 cup of crushed ice
  • 2 tablespoons of butterscotch syrup
  • 2 tablespoons of whipped cream
  • 2 tablespoons of salted caramel syrup
  • 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon clove powder
  • 2 tablespoons of rum or whiskey


  • Take a bowl and combine all the ingredients except the whipped cream, beer and crushed ice in a bowl.
  • Take a beer glass, add crushed ice and pour the mixture up to half a glass.
  • Add cold beer to the glass and add a little whipped cream.

3. Mudslide

A cocktail filled with a rich cream liqueur, what could make a perfect dessert liqueur?

  • 50 g grated dark chocolate
  • Chocolate syrup for the edge of the glass
  • 60 ml of coffee flavored liqueur
  • 60 ml of vodka
  • 60 ml Irish cream liqueur
  • 60 ml heavy cream or whipped cream
  • 1 cup of crushed ice


  • Add crushed ice, vodka, coffee liqueur and Irish cream liqueur to a blender.
  • Take a glass and pour a little chocolate syrup around it, add the mixture to it.
  • Garnish the drink with a little whipped cream and grated chocolate.

4. Mint Julep

Mint Julep
A must-have for those who like to explore the notes of whiskey, julep mint is one of the most beautiful blends and the fastest to make.

  • 4 to 5 mint leaves
  • 1 teaspoon of mint sprigs
  • 75 ml bourbon whiskey
  • 2 1/2 ounces of bourbon whiskey
  • 2 lumps of sugar
  • 30 ml of sparkling water


  • Take an old fashioned highball glass and add a few mint leaves to the bottom and add sugar.
  • Mix them together until the leaves blend well.
  • Add sparkling water and bourbon whiskey.
  • Add crushed ice and stir.
  • Garnish with a sprig of mint.

5. Micheladas

Enlivening the summer atmosphere, Micheladas is a perfect cocktail full of Mexican flavors.

  • 20 ml fresh tomato juice with some added spices of your choice
  • 30 ml lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons of hot sauce
  • 300ml lager beer (try to find a Mexican brand for a classic taste)
  • A mixture of sea salt and chili powder to put around the edge
  • 1 cup of ice cubes


  • Take a pint and a pilsner glass and run the lime wedge around running a lime wedge around the rim of a glass and dip it in sea salt and chili powder.
  • Add the ice cream, tomato juice, lime juice, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, hot sauce and a pinch of salt and chili powder.
  • Top with bigger beer and you’re good to go
